Hounds Downtown began with one simple mission: to create a place where dogs — and the people who love them — truly feel at home.
As a lifelong animal lover and devoted dog mom, owner Jessica Ball was always searching for products that were safe, stylish, and high-quality — things she could feel confident using with her own pack. When she couldn’t find a shop that offered everything she believed pets deserved, she decided to create her own.
What started as a small dream quickly grew into a woman-owned boutique rooted in passion, care, and community. Every harness, treat, collar, and cozy bed on our shelves is handpicked with love and intention, chosen because it meets the standards we want for our own dogs.
As Hounds Downtown grew, so did our vision. We wanted to offer more than great products — we wanted grooming done with heart, patience, and true expertise. With over a decade of professional grooming experience, Eduardo joined our team and helped shape the calm, dog-centered salon experience we’re proud of today.
Together, we’ve created a place where every wag, wiggle, and wet nose matters. A place built by animal lovers, for animal lovers. A place where quality isn’t optional — it’s our promise.

Hi, I’m Jessica! I’m the owner of Hounds Downtown and a lifelong animal lover with a special love for dachshunds. I have 10 of them and 12 pups total. My dogs are more than pets; they’re my family, my joy, and the inspiration behind everything I do.
I created Hounds Downtown because I wanted a boutique where pet parents could find cute, stylish, and high-quality finds for their furbabies — the same way I shop for mine. Every item is handpicked with love, care, and a whole lot of doxie spirit, and my hope is that you feel the same happiness in these products that my pack brings to my life every day.

Hi everyone, my name is Eduardo, and I’m the Pet Stylist here at Hounds Downtown. I’ve been an animal lover my entire life and stepped into dog grooming shortly after graduating high school in 2013. I’m a creative stylist who truly embraces scissor work and precision as the foundation of my craft.
I’m also a proud dog dad to three standard poodles who mean the world to me. If you ever have questions about the grooming process, our line is open — we’re here to help in whatever way you need. I’m so excited to serve the Bartow community and can’t wait to meet you and your pup soon.

How is pricing determined?
Pricing depends on the scope of grooming needed. Coat type, size, coat condition, and the style you want all play a role. We’re happy to provide an estimate when you request your appointment.
Do you groom puppies?
Yes. We offer Puppy Intro Groom appointments designed to make a puppy’s first visit calm, positive, and confidence-building. We take our time so your pup feels safe and supported.
Can you help with shedding or sensitive skin?
Absolutely. We offer de-shed services for heavy or seasonal shedders, and medicated baths for dogs who need extra skin or coat support. If your vet has recommended a specific product, let us know when you book.
What if my dog is nervous about grooming?
If your dog feels nervous about grooming, you're not alone and we're here to help! Take it slow, use lots of treats and praise, and try short, positive sessions to build their confidence. Gentle tools and a calm environment make all the difference. Grooming should feel safe, not stressful.
